Geography Reflection: Case Study

Artifact

Reflection: For this 3rd quarter, one of my last tasks was to choose a project that demonstrated my full knowledge, applying the essential questions given to us at the beginning of the course.  The options given were to either carry out a global collaboration project, create an info-graphic or create a case study. I opted for the case study, because it is more in my comfort zone. I feel that overall I did well. The research was very complete, and was organized as well. I personally felt that the case study was thorough as well. In this quarter, I want to try something different, which is why I decided to go with the global collaboration project. I think that taking a risk and doing something out of my comfort zone would help me learn new things, and improve on my learning. I feel it would be interesting working with other people, and creating a video to defend our case. I am very nervous though, because I really want all my partners to collaborate. I think this project will be very fun to do, and I hope I feel as satisfied with it, and learn as much from it, as I did with my case study. I need to be very responsible, because I need to contribute as much as I can to my group and the project, but at the same time I will also need to memorize Asia.

Eating Disorder Scenario

1) What physical signs of an eating disorder is Mariana developing?
Mariana looks very thin and is constantly tired. She has grown more body hair than usual. When she brushed her hair, a ton of it would come out in the brush as well.

2) What emotional/mental/behavioral signs of an eating disorder is Mariana developing
Mariana is a perfectionist, and constantly wants to be in control. During lunchtime, she is always "busy" with homework and never eats with her friends. She makes up many excuses and continuously says that she is not hungry.

3) What eating disorder do you think she has?
I think that Mariana has anorexia nervosa.

4) What other signs of the eating disorder (not mentioned in the story) could you look out for?
Usually people with anorexia could be very moody, be depressed even, have brittle nails, and usually wear baggy clothes. If Mariana talked about her body constantly, and always mentioned food as well, this could be a sign of an eating disorder.

5) What can Claudia do to help her friend?
Claudia in a very polite and caring way can talk to Mariana, and provide her with help and support. She could talk to Mariana's parents, a teacher, or a school councillor as well.

Classic Partner Read Personal Favorite Post

My personal favorite blog post that me and my dad wrote was the last one. I feel that in this post, the prompt was very interesting, for we had to discuss what ideas we had for the dinner party. I enjoyed having this talk with my dad, because he really helped me get me interested into the whole project. It was also the the last blog post, meaning we had to talk about our reaction to the last part of the book. I was really surprised at how the story turned out to be, like mentioned in the post. Overall I found the project to be very interesting and fun, and the way we had to divide the book took a bit of the pressure off. Being able to discuss it with someone helped me understand it with more depth and I enjoyed it more. I think one of the highlights was that, being able to talk to someone, and hearing their opinions as well. The second highlight of this whole thing is probably the fact that I actually looked forward to continuing with the story, and wanted to find out what happened next.
